Prime Origins (Pty) Ltd is a niche media company that publishes field guides, books, booklets, maps, map books and checklists for South Africa’s premier tourist-destinations.
It is owned by Brett Hilton-Barber and Professor Lee R Berger and is based in Cape Town, South Africa.
Brett Hilton-Barber is a natural history author and publisher based in Cape Town. The former Radio 702 radio journalist and political editor made the switch from hard news to natural history in the late 1990’s when he founded Prime Origins (Pty) Ltd. He has written six books.
Prof. Lee R. Berger is the
Reader in Human Evolution and the Public Understanding of Science at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg. He has written extensively for the international scientific press, and his work has been featured regularly in National Geographic. In 1997 he was awarded the first National Geographic Society Prize for Research and Exploration for his ground-breaking work in the study of human origins.
